Read with your accepted quotation and the applicable South African consumer protections. Statutory rights take precedence over conflicting terms.
1. Statutory rights and additional warranties
The CPA’s applicable quality and service protections are not replaced by a manufacturer’s warranty. Where a separate product warranty is offered, the actual product, coverage, duration, exclusions and claim process must be supplied before purchase. We do not promise a lifetime guarantee or a single warranty period for every flooring product.
You can raise a qualifying claim with February Flooring as the supplier. We will not require you to pursue the manufacturer alone in place of a remedy the law provides against us.
2. Product-specific care
Keep the quotation, product reference, batch information and care instructions available. Follow the instructions applicable to that product for cleaning, storage, acclimatisation, moisture, furniture protection, movement joints and heating. Ask for clarification before applying an unfamiliar chemical or changing an environmental condition.
Water resistance, waterproof construction and tolerance of standing water are different characteristics. Use the confirmed specification rather than assuming that every vinyl, laminate or wood floor is suitable for every wet area or exposure.
3. Assessing the cause fairly
A claim may require examination of the goods, substrate, installation and maintenance history. Damage actually caused by incompatible cleaning, flooding, misuse, unauthorised alteration or an independent installer’s work may fall outside an additional warranty to the extent its lawful conditions apply. We do not presume that any such event automatically defeats an unrelated defect claim.
Changes in shade, grain or appearance must be assessed against the agreed description, actual product characteristics and applicable rights. A general natural-variation statement is not permission to supply the wrong finish or misdescribe goods.
4. Installed-floor claims
If a visible problem is found before installation, pause the affected work and contact us where practical. For an installed floor, retain relevant evidence and discuss an inspection before destructive removal, unless urgent action is reasonably necessary for safety or to prevent further damage.
We will consider product and workmanship responsibilities separately. The lawful remedy and any removal or reinstatement costs depend on the circumstances; installed flooring is not automatically excluded from statutory protection.
